Like A Frame 4.3 — Textured Canvas & Undo/Redo
Like A Frame 4.3.0 is now released which introduces two major updates, both of which I have been wanting to implement for quite some time.
Undo / Redo via gestures or the buttons at the top of the editor. Undo history to reverse unwanted changes. Some changes such as adding or deleting photo layers cannot be undone, though almost all other changes can be.
Textured & Shaded Canvases. Add a texture to the background and adjust the circular shading of the background colour using the new canvas background controls. Choose from a handful of canvas textures such as concrete, wood, fabric and even terrazzo.
Various minor bug fixes. I’ve also fixed a handful of minor bugs.

For a long time, I’d been thinking of adding these two features, but with a full time job, it was hard to prioritise them as they’re somewhat complicated, especially the undo/redo history feature. Undo requires a lot of tricky mechanisms to allow it to revert individual or large scale changes to each setting that goes into the rendering of Like A Frame compositions as well as be able to store that history for restoration.
I spent almost two months chipping away at this, making sure to find all of the caveats and gotchas, but this should make the app more user friendly along with Drafts and Presets.
Shading and textures removes even more of the need to use other applications to reach a desired result, such as Photoshop. Our eyes love to look at textured surfaces as opposed to flat, lifeless colours, and there may be more options I could at implementing in the future. Until then, take a look at these examples below.
