Introducing Auto Canvas Mode in Like A Frame 5.3 for iOS
For the longest time, Like A Frame has had a rather clunky canvas / photo crop ratio of “Match Photo & Crop” with “Uniform Matte”. These options didn’t fulfill a specific need properly, and for a while I had been wanting to implement a true automatically sized canvas mode for centrally framing a photo with uniform borders.
Auto Canvas makes this happen. By turning on auto-canvas, the selected photo layer will be locked to the center and the canvas aspect ratio will automatically adjust itself depending on the size and framing settings chosen. You can still add other photo, text and overlay/sticker layers into the composition, but the auto-canvas layer will remain centered.
This is now available in Like A Frame 5.3 for iOS. Go to the App Store > Profile and refresh the screen to see the update.
Auto Canvas Resizing In Action
As you adjust each setting in the composition of the auto-canvas photo layer, the canvas aspect ratio will be recalculated to make the space around it uniform. If you don’t wish to see the background outside the frame, simply scale the photo layer to 100% to fill the entire canvas.
Notice in the examples below that the entire image has a uniformly sized background space around the centered frame. Try it out yourself by tapping the purple Auto Canvas button and adjusting the settings!
