Like A Frame Version 3.3 Released! — Matte Bevel, Separate Frame Ratio & More
Like A Frame 3.3 has been released which finally realises some of the core compositional features I’ve been wanting to implement for a long time. The update is free and most users should see it automatically. The app’s $1.99 AUD / 99c USD price point remains.
There will never be subscriptions or ads. Just a fraction of a coffee is what I’m asking. Please help me fund the development of this unique photo framing app by sharing your photos on Instagram and tagging @likeaframeapp or giving me a shout out.
Matte Bevel
Most photo frames that include a matte will also have a natural 45º bevel at the opening of the photo. This is now included in Like A Frame and takes on the same shadow angle and colour as the Internal Shadow setting. Changing the angle and colour will update the internal shadow angle and colour as well so that the lighting matches. Adjust the size using the slider to increase the depth and thickness of the bevel.
Frame Ratio
There are now three places you can apply a custom aspect ratio. The canvas, the photo and now the photo frame! Photo frames often have different overall aspect ratio to the matte opening. For example, a 3x2 photo inside an 17x11 frame. You can now optionally set a photo frame ratio to simulate this.
Roadmap…
With this new version, I have now achieved the functionality I’ve always thought of, but that doesn’t mean the development will stop. I have minor updates I want to make to improve ease of use. Other ideas I have include possible text layers, custom aspect ratios and more. For now, I’m going to take a little break.
[Nick] Bedford explains that version 3.3 essentially completes the vision he initially had for Like A Frame, but doesn’t plan to stop development. He still has more ideas, so it’s likely more updates will come.
